Townsend is the last “undeveloped” gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the front porch to Cades Cove, one of the most beautiful places on earth. We don’t have a lot of shopping, but what we do have is quality. We have extremely talented artisans and we are the largest working artisan’s guild in the state of Tennessee.
We offer camping (www.llittlerivercampground.com), flyfishing (www.littleriveroutfitters.com ) lots of fishing guides around, beautiful scenery to photograph or paint, lessons for those folks that don’t know how, woodcarving (with lessons availlable of course) bicycle riding for fun or join a club www.cycologybicycles.com , www.smwbike.com , www.foothillsstriders.org which also has hiking. We have a bike trail that runs the entire stretch of Townsend.
And of course there is the river with lots of tubers on a hot day. Just make your own relaxing vacation. www.townsendvisitorscenter.com
